The specialties above are often associated with troubling thoughts, symptoms, feelings, and behaviors. In my years of experience, many people struggle with negative feelings about themselves and frequently compare themselves to others, always feeling less than and not good enough. Individuals tend to also feel overwhelmed and easily flooded with constant anxiety and worries that repeatedly and punishingly intrude into one’s mind. Individuals may find themselves in chronic cycles of addictive behavior such as food restriction, over eating/binging, binging & purging, overusing alcohol or drugs, overspending. etc., followed by feelings of guilt, shame and depression. Others may talk to themselves with "shoulds" or "what ifs" and feel they need to be perfect and control everything. Many have low interest/motivation and find themselves avoiding responsibilities, self care, relationships, or pursuit of professional growth that would actually improve self esteem, and lead to increased satisfaction and success. This is often due to fears that inhibit and hold one back.
My practice is dedicated to helping clients to be free of these chronic symptom related thoughts, feelings of low self worth, and behaviors that hurt one’s quality of life. I assist people in their personal transformation from emotional deprivation to arrive at a more joy-filled and pleasurable life. Rather than continued engagement in self defeating automatic behaviors and thoughts to respond to deep inner hurts and feelings, I will help you to learn adaptive coping mechanisms to manage stressors and life’s challenges. By reducing or eliminating fears that hold you back, I will help you discover positive pursuits to achieve life balance and meaningful change.
In my experience, many of the inner wounds that people struggle with come from developmental trauma and/or negative experiences in one’s family of origin and/ or wounding experiences during one’s formative years such as bullying or abuse.
